Happy Little Trees
Look what I did with my brand new $130 "Bob Ross Master Paint Set." (That I got for 40% off.) Look out Da Vinci! I'm proud of the mountain, the water, and the water bank on the left side. The trees and bushes need work. I don't think I did them right. All in all, not bad for someone who never took an art class!

Happy little Timmy painting happy little trees. (Is the title your own?) Soon I'll be commissioning you to do a Mediterranean scene for the back room.
What constitutes a kit? Do you get an outline of the scene or something?
Well, anyway, way to leaf out (no pun intended) your creative resume!
What the hey Tim! Now it's not good enough to be an author, but you have to branch out into painting too? The picture (or should I say "the work of art") looks very nice, but is crying out for more "friendly little this, or happy little that." When do you plan to get the Shirley Temple curly hair-do? Better do it soon, hair's a wasting. You know, that's part of the whole art experience. So what's next Mr. D, "The Last Supper"? Right on! Paint on! Write on!

It looks very nice ... I thought it might be a paint by numbers first, but I guess you created it all on your own. Are you going to frame it? And where are you going to put it? ... maybe you could sign it and sell it at the Art Fair on the Square next year!

The "Bob Ross Master Paint Set" comes with a bottle of liquid white (the medium that you apply directly to the canvass) 8 different oil paints, a 2" background brush, a 1" landscaping brush, a script liner brush, a #6 fan brush, and a palette knife. It also includes a DVD with one of the shows from season 13. That's sort of what I painted along with, although I made some changes. You do get a picture of Bob's finished painting which is WAY better than mine. Not included were the $25 easel (that I got for half price), the odorless paint thinner, and the canvass (that I also got for half price).
I don't think I EVER had enough hair to compete with Bob. I am just not white fro material.
I didn't wear the shirt... I didn't want it to get ruined! Oil paints are really messy. I wore a Conan the Barbarian t-shirt which doesn't get much play these days.
I'm not framing it - it's not that good. Nor could I sell it. I still have plenty of paint left, so I may go get another canvass when the mood strikes.
Now quit reading this and go watch Bob Ross. He's on at 11:30 on Create. (PBS-3)
So I checked my email last night. I had two new messages. The message at the top of my inbox was from Tim, the next message down was from Dad. For whatever reason I always read my emails from oldest to newest (ie from bottom to top). So I see Dad's email (without seeing Tim's at this point) and see that he had a blog update. Okay, cool... let me go check it out.
Now, unlike email... I simply read the blog from newest entry to oldest (ie from top to bottom). So I open up Tim's blog entry on the picture thinking this was Dad's entry. At this point I'm convinced Dad's losing his f-ing marbles. I know he likes to work with his hands and makes some very cool stuff out of wood. But this!?!
It took me a couple of minutes to realize this was Tim's doing... which in turn made a lot more sense. Needless to say I'm not particularly impressed. If you really want to impress me Tim, perhaps you will consider "marbalizing" the easel. Now that would be cool.
So Tim, you never said how long this piece of art took you to create, or should I say re-create since you were kinda following along with Bob. Perhaps you could try a portrait of Bruce next since we already have one of Molly. And you know, I could have made you a very nice, rustic easel for free. Oops, too late now.
I didn't keep close tabs. I think it took somewhere between 1-2 hours. Of course Bob does his in 20 minutes and they look better. But then, I'm no Bob.
A proper easel would be a pain in the @$$ to make by hand. Lots of moving parts. I just got a little junker for the occasional small project. At this point, that's all I need.
Also, I don't do portraits. If I did, I'd want to recreate the portrait of Mom that hung in the Brown's sitting room.
Now THAT I would pay money for!!
