The floor is all done as of this afternoon. Attached are the before, during, and after pictures. Last weekend I spent about 14 hours on Saturday and 12 hours on Sunday working. Today I worked another 5 hours finishing all of the trim around the baseboard.
Anyway... here are the pictures:

Very, very nice, Chris. As you know, I always have trouble envisioning things like this. It looks way better than I had imagined.. You should be proud of a good job well done. You'd never know it wasn't all done at the same time..
Thanks... this is by far the biggest home improvement project I've undertaken. I think the pictures don't do it justice, it looks better in person. There are some minor imperfections that annoy me, but for the most part I'm the only one who notice them.
Anyway, off to get a shower.
Very nice! I like! Most importantly ... does Oliver like it?
Christopher,
Nice, very nice. You did a great job, better than I could have done. I'm just too cheap to do it right the first time. I'm mostly a "good enough" kinda guy. (Comes from watching Granddad dicking around forever trying to be perfect, and then getting nothing done because he's not. Good enough gets done much faster.) I don't know about you, but I've pretty much always liked my job but I get way mo' satisfaction from actually doing things, like woodworking projects, gardens, home improvements, car repairs etc than publishing "research" reports. I'm glad to see that you may just be leaning in that direction. I was especially impressed with the transition from LR to K, and from K to BR and K to UC. And just think, the transition from LR to K no longer has that shopping cart hazard for Oliver to overcome. Now that you've raised the (home improvement) bar a notch, I may just have to try doing the computer room with a floater floor now that I know who I can call for advice.

Well, that would be nice but I'm afraid the upstairs hall takes priority over any other project. She Who Must Be Obeyed has spoken.
That little room would be incredibly easy to do. Their were two retardly hard cuts to make... both of which were around the door. Small square room could be done in less than 4 hours with the right tools. The hardest part was definitely the kitchen to the utility closet. That consumed most of my time!
PS - I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that Emily did all the putty work around the trim as well as countless hours of watching Oliver while I worked.
Today the kitchen... tomorrow challenging Bob Vila for his throne!
